The internet community lost a giant this week. Cryptographer Robert Morris who laid a lot of the ground work for the Unix computer operating system and has done a lot of secret work for the NSA (including what might be the first U.S. sanctioned cyber attack in 1991). Passed away away at the age of 78.
Anyone who doesn’t know why this is important, if you’re working on a MAC running OSX you are using a good portion of his work. Morris’ contributions to the worlds of computer science and cryptography made the majority of computers and computer operating systems.
Rest in Peace my friend.
