Xbox Live on WinPho7: Suddenly my Incredible isn’t so incredible

I’ll admit it, I like a lot of Microsoft products. As a gamer you cannot go wrong with Windows, Office has its plusses, and I really prefer the 360 over the PS3. Recently with the coming arrival of Windows Phone 7 Microsoft announces Xbox Live integration for all phones. I was quite interested if this would be an actual integration, or just a way to show off your avatar. Based on today’s announcement, I’m going to be selling my Droid very soon.

Microsoft announced a teaser list of over 50 titles today (and they were very insistent that this is a beginning list, not the total title list for launch). You will be able to unlock achievements, and there is the definite possibility for cross gaming both on your Xbox and the Phone. An example of this would be being able to buy things for your villa in Assassins Creed 2 on your phone, or have special missions in-game that are doable with the phone. You get your avatar which is customizable and will be able to interact with certain Windows Phone widgets. Here is the list we have for games so far:

It is a bit more shovelware rather than gaming experience, but I am nonetheless excited to see this. I really believe that the technology company that integrates TV, Gaming, Phone, and computing into one continuous system is going to be the winner and I see Microsoft making those strides on the Xbox. We have the gaming console, streaming media console (via Netflix or Zune) and now we will have the phone. If the phone can substitute as a headset I am already sold.
